Yeah, now that you mention it, it does seem that way… I think that for one, all of these things that help move the story from one phase to another to show different facets of humanity (how ppl treated one another, how emperors were, how ppl were, and then later fantasy creatures showing up as…

It kind of makes me excited to see if Miura will introduce rifles. Though, I doubt it’ll happen since, based on the universal era of the manga, their world is no where near that type of technology. (I mean, we do have Guts’ prosthetic hand.)

To be honest, I’m glad we’ve finished this pirate phase. I feel it was too much filler in my opinion. But Miura has a good (and iritating) way of slipping it themes and events that goes along with the main plot line. (Example, Guts’ son appearing, figuring out a method to control the berserker armor, Isidro’s swordsmanship improving.)

Oh hell yeah, I’m itching for how Guts and co. will get Casca’s memories back! But yes, you could say he involves EVERYTHING in some way XD. I love the guy for doing that because everything is meant to lead to one big event after another where Guts has to make a near impossible choice (ie when up against the darkness in the Vatican arc, he had to choose between saving casca or  destroying the darkness) 

I dunno tho, the introduction of Roderick now, him being a sailor and whatnot with the open seas, with this kind of world available to Farnese, I have a feeling that she may depart the group for the guy. Ruining Farnese would be too gritty and unexpected through apostle means but…. then again we can’t be too sure on what Miura has in mind for Farnese and Serpico…
